i wish i had first read Hunter x Hunter when I was 10 or 15 or even 20. the exceptions tend to be series that are only nominally shounen (Beastars, SxF, etc.) or nostalgia-bait (the new installation of The Breaker). Viz Media is set to release the volume in English on October 3, 2023.These days I rarely start any new shounen series. The Hunter x Hunter volume 37 titled Escape, came out in November in Japan, which consists of chapters 381 to 390.

Togashi took a hiatus for three years before he announced in September 2022 that work on the next volume was done. Fans fear that an announcement about the manga’s end seems highly likely.

The editorial department of the magazine said in a letter at the time that news about the manga’s status will be revealed once the situation regarding it becomes clear. The manga took a break starting with chapter 401, noting in the Weekly Shonen Jump #4-5 that he was “trying to figure out how to keep the manga going without causing so much stress to everyone who helps me out.” This comes after Hunter x Hunter went back on hiatus in December 2022 as Togashi was “trying to figure out” the publishing schedule. However, there is no official confirmation from either the author or the magazine about the manga’s current status.

The account also notes that Hunter x Hunter was listed as an ongoing, serialised series on the Shonen Jump website as of December 2022. The series is now listed in the 'Archived Serializations' section along with ended, canceled, and transferred works. HUNTERxHUNTER is no longer listed as a 'serialized work' from Weekly Shonen Jump on the magazine's official website. It has been moved to the archive section, where it sits with other manga that have either ended, cancelled, or transferred to other magazines. It appears that the Hunter x Hunter manga could be cancelled for good, as it was moved to the “serialisation archives” section on the Shonen Jump magazine's website.Īs pointed out by Shonen Jump News on Twitter, author Yoshihiro Togashi's long-running manga series is not listed on the magazine’s website under the “serialised works” section.
